Our Team

Our team is our greatest asset and we never forget this.  We aim to be the best nursery provider and we endeavour to do this using the professionalism and experience of our team, working together, creating cohesion, encouraging further self-development, and sharing and celebrating our achievements together.

Coming from a multitude of backgrounds, every member of our team holds, or is working towards, a higher level 3+ childcare qualification. Our decision to surpass the regulatory requirement demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest standard of care. Carers attend regular training seminars to keep up to date with latest legislation and best practice.

Melanie Hallam

Managing Director

Having spent 12 years building a career in Strategic Business Analysis, Melanie created Alderley Day Nursery to address the challenges she herself encountered when trying to juggle the corporate environment and motherhood.

“I desperately wanted my son to benefit from a Montessori education, which research continues to recognise as a superior learning environment, but I also needed care all year round, with flexibility when my schedule dictated”.

“Finding the right location was crucial in enabling us to provide valuable outdoor experiences, whilst providing organic foods was a personal must. I hope we’ve covered everything a parent could wish for in their nursery provider.”

Jenny Carr-Winterburn

Nursery Manager

Jenny joined Alderley Day Nursery prior to it’s launch and having previously managed Chapel Grange Montessori School in Wilmslow she brought with her an extensive career history in the childcare sector. Montessori qualified herself, Jenny had a significant input into the planning of Alderley Day Nursery and continues to have a hands-on approach.

“Having discovered the Montessori philosophy, it inspired me to undertake the professional Montessori teaching qualifications. The experiences I have gained in the Montessori approach are promoted throughout the nursery.”

“The early years of a child’s life are the most formative. The Montessori environment supports every aspect of a child’s development, providing the best start in early education and learning.”

The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.
