Alderley Day Nursery
Congleton Road,
Nether Alderley,
Cheshire, SK10 4TD

Alderley Day Nursery has been developed by a dedicated team who are passionate about maximising children's potential. Every detail has been carefully considered in order to create a positive and caring environment, full of exciting activities designed to unleash a child's natural ability for spontaneous learning.

Each member of the team has been selected for their extensive experience in the childcare sector, but more importantly, for their genuine commitment to every child's well-being.

Accommodating up to 62 children from the ages of 0-5 years, the setting benefits from a single storey purpose built indoor nursery and an expansive outdoor space. Our aim is to use the outside as an extension of the indoor environment, allowing children to gain first hand experiences of their natural world during this pivotal period in their development.

Research has found that the frequency and quality of outdoor provision has a direct impact on the development of young children, those having regular outdoor experiences benefit not just physically, but cognitively, creatively and socially. "Learning through Landscapes", campaigning for better outdoor environments in education and childcare.

Alderley Day Nursery adopts the Montessori approach to learning, developed by Dr Maria Montessori through years of observation and practice. Built on a deep respect for the child and an appreciation of the special learning abilities a child has during the first 6 years of life, focus is placed on the creation of an environment rich in activities, allowing the child to teach themselves with support and guidance from knowledgeable adults.

Our priority is to exceed expectations by offering exceptional facilities, promoting the highest standards in day care within a safe and carefully monitored environment. From the varied use of outdoor space to the delivery of extra curricular activities such as Music and French language, we aim to provide a wide breadth of rewarding experiences to ensure children are well prepared for their next step into conventional schooling.

Melanie Hallam, Managing Director
Having spent 12 years building a career in Strategic Business Analysis, Melanie created Alderley Day Nursery to address the challenges she herself encountered when trying to juggle the corporate environment and motherhood.

"I desperately wanted my son to benefit from a Montessori education, which research continues to recognise as a superior learning environment, but I also needed care all year round, with flexibility when my schedule dictated".

"Finding the right location was crucial in enabling us to provide valuable outdoor experiences, whilst providing organic foods was a personal must. I hope we've covered everything a parent could wish for in their nursery provider."

Jenny Carr-Winterburn, Nursery Manager
Jenny joined Alderley Day Nursery prior to it's launch and having previously managed Chapel Grange Montessori School in Wilmslow she brought with her an extensive career history in the childcare sector. Montessori qualified herself, Jenny had a significant input into the planning of Alderley Day Nursery and continues to have a hands-on approach.

"Having discovered the Montessori philosophy, it inspired me to undertake the professional Montessori teaching qualifications. The experiences I have gained in the Montessori approach are promoted throughout the nursery."

"The early years of a child's life are the most formative. The Montessori environment supports every aspect of a child's development, providing the best start in early education and learning."
